About Aida

Early Life and International Journey

Aida Wangeci Karabu’s life began on April 9, 2000, with her birth on a sunny Monday morning. Her family’s international travels took her to various countries, including Rwanda, Tanzania, Cambodia, Ethiopia, the United Kingdom, Kenya, and Canada.

These experiences during her childhood taught her adaptability and fostered a deep appreciation for diverse cultures, shaping the person she became.

Fearless Spirit and Curiosity

From a tender age, Aida’s insatiable curiosity about the world around her drove her to seek experiences beyond mere observation. Notably talkative, she eagerly participated in conversations, even at a young age, as demonstrated during a visit to the US embassy. Her adventurous spirit led her to engage in daring activities like climbing trees and bungee jumping, reflecting her eagerness to be part of the action.

Academic Excellence and Leadership

Aida's academic journey was marked by excellence, starting with her success in middle school in Ethiopia. She continued her studies at Royal High School in the UK, where she excelled academically and emerged as a student leader. Her dedication to her studies and natural leadership abilities set her apart, evident in her outstanding performance in GCSE exams and participation in extracurricular activities like the Cadets programme.

Pursuit of Dreams and Space Exploration

Aida's dreams knew no bounds. Her determination to become an astronaut led her to take flying lessons as a stepping stone towards achieving her goal. Her ambition extended to working for NASA and exploring the mysteries of the universe, including visiting Mars. Aida's fascination with space travel fueled her desire to push the boundaries of human knowledge.
